RETHINK (Remembrance Education for THINKing Critically)
In collaboration with CIEP (Centre International D’Etudes Pedagogiques) in Paris, the CDRSEE joins 6 other prestigious research, education and history institutions to cooperate on an a 3-year-long initiative to develop the field of remembrance education in the EU. Due to start in January 2018, the project, funded under the Erasmus + programme, involves research, the production of multi-perspective and participative educational resources and best practice sharing. It aims to create and share methodologies and materials to be used across the EU, on remembrance education, in a manner encourages critical thinking and thus prepares young people to be active members of a flourishing civil society who will foster democracies and open dialogue about the past and present. With a particular focus, in part,on the Holocaust, the project will work with educators to counteract the manipulation of memorialisation for nationalistic purposes. The CDRSEE brings its considerable expertise in the area of history education to be applied more specifically to remembrance.
