20-21 November 2010 - CDRSEE Regional Conference - History Education Fostering European Integration. The CDRSEE wishes to raise understanding of the potential for multi-perspective history education in the wider region and to create a forum for practitioners, scholars, civil society and policy makers to gather and exchange experiences, opinions and ideas about educational renewal that will enhance the fundamental European value of critical thinking and will hence encourage dialogue between informed citizens, thus strengthening the process of gradual integration among European countries. 12-14 November 2010 - History Teacher Training in Subotica. With the seminar in Subotica the CDRSEE reached out to Vojvodina and closed the cycle of seminars for 2010. Following the positive experiences and large interest in the project, however, the series of seminars will continue next year with the first seminar in 2011 planned to be held in Uzice. In 2010, the CDRSEE was able to spark enthusiasm amongst teachers and also amongst the general public.  In Subotica 34 teachers from the city and surrounding municipalities participated in the training and the event was covered by the local media. 1-3 October 2010 - History Teacher Training in Leskovac. The Joint History Project continued activities in the autumn season with teacher trainings in Southeast Serbia.  27 teachers from Leskovac and 14 surrounding municipalities took part in the training workshop on multi perspective history teaching and modern teaching methodologies. 20 September 2010 - CDRSEE launched the 2nd Serbian Edition of the JHP books in Belgrade! The event informed about the JHP and allowed for fruitful debate and discussion. Press kits with full information about JHP were made available, and Press coverage was substantial. Minister of Education Obradovic made a speech, openly and fully supporting the Project, which will boost further development and implementation of the JHP (for full translated speech in English, click here). 20 September 2010 - CDRSEE will launch the 2nd Serbian Edition of the JHP books in Belgrade! The CDRSEE will proudly present the 2nd Serbian Edition of the JHP workbooks at 11 am in Belgrade, Aeroklub. The event will inform about the JHP and allow for debate and discussion on what the JHP contributes to education and why it should be supported. It will be moderated by Dr. Ivan Vejvoda, the Executive Director of the Balkan Trust for Democracy, and will include high-profile speakers, such as Dr. E. Busek (Chair of CDRSEE Board), Dr. Koja (Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Serbia), Ambassador Vincent Degert (Head of the EC Delegation to Serbia), Mr. Litzenberger (Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy od the USA); Dr. Obradovic (Minister of Education Serbia)(tbc), Prof. Dr. Stojanovic (Editor of the JHP in Serbia). 17-19 September 2010, History Teacher - Training in Valjevo. 22 teachers from Valjevo and 12 surrounding municipalities joined the CDRSEE on the mountain of Divcibare to get expertise in using the Multi Perspective History teaching materials and in applying modern teaching methodologies in their classrooms. 02-04 July 2010 -   The second cycle of Training Activities for history teachers in Serbia was kicked off during the first weekend of July with an up-skilling workshop for teacher trainers. The event was also attended by representatives of the Serbian Ministry for Education and four more workshops will take place in autumn 2010, targeted at further enhancing the skills of history teachers in multi-perspective modern teaching methodology all over Serbia.  Click here to read the full article.

04 June 2010 - CDRSEE’s 2009 Annual Report available for download. Inaugurating a new decade of activities, the CDRSEE’s 2009 annual report is available for download! In 2009, CDRSEE saw its two flagship projects, Employed Empowered and The Southeast European Joint History Project (JHP) run full steam ahead and yield the results of success, whilst a new project, the Recycle Monster: Don’t Throw It, Show It! was created and implemented right here at the Center’s adoptive home, in Thessaloniki.
2009 was also a year of renewal, following the 10th anniversary of the Center, and marked the launch of the CDRSEE’s large-scale fundraising campaign “We Can Do More” and of the revitalised internship programme! The CDRSEE also continued its contribution to the pool of worldwide knowledge through its participation in various international and local events.

08 & 09 May 2010 - The Recycle Monster: ‘Don't Throw it, Show it!’. CDRSEE in partnership with the American College Thessaloniki (ACT), successfully undertook its first public event in Thessaloniki over the weekend of 08 and 09 May and organised in the city’s Artistotle Square an educational campaign titled "Recycle Monster: "Don't Throw it, Show it!". The project was implemented by CDRSEE staff and ACT students, and the community and student spirits were high as the recycle-oriented events took place over the whole weekend. May 2010 - New Board Member. The CDRSEE is happy to welcome onto it's Board of Directors Ms Aleksandra Joksimovic from Belgrade, Serbia. Ms Joksimovic has a prestigious career in International Relations and since 2008 she has been Executive Director of PFZ - Zepter Holding, in addition to teaching Media and Diplomacy at the Diplomatic Academy of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and being a member of the Publishing Division of the scientific journal “International” Affairs - published by Institute of International Politics and Economics. Further to these positions, Ms Joksimovic is a teacher of contemporary US-Serbian relations at the Centre for USA Studies, Faculty of Political Science, at the University of Belgrade.

22 April 2010 - The CDRSEE has launched a new project! The Center, in collaboration with the American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) and their students, is proud to announce the launch of its new project, the Recycle Monster: "Don't Throw it, Show it!". This is an educational campaign that focuses on promoting environmental awareness and, above all, educating youth about the advantages of recycling and inspiring them to make recycling part of their daily lives. The Center and ACT have chosen to tackle these issues in Thessaloniki, here at home, as a first step to making a difference in Greece and the region.

The project will culminate these coming 8 - 9 May, starting at 10:00 A.M on Aristotelous Square, where an exhibition of art made of recyclable materials will take place alongside numerous fun and interactive activities.

17-18 April 2010 – Multi-communal Local Teacher Training Workshop in Kosovo, Pec/Peja: CDRSEE went back to Kosovo, this time to Pec/Peja for a new Local Workshop, where the recently up-skilled trainers put their skills to practice to train their peer teachers. This workshop was one of the 3 planned local workshops in Kosovo. The 10 teacher trainers trained previously will continue leading the 10 foreseen in-school trainings, after which it is expected that 225 teachers will have been trained.

13-14 March 2010 – Up-skilling Trainer of Trainer Workshop, Sarajevo: the reunions continue as CDRSEE took its up-skilling workshop Sarajevo! The tri-communal workshop was attended by 19 teachers from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, who were invited to improve the training skills that they gained during previous workshops during 2008. Honorary guest at the workshop was High Representative and EU Special Representative, Valentin Inzko. Dr. Inzko, whose father was an historian himself, was kind enough to dedicate his time to participate in the workshop and to meet with the teachers.   The training was lead by Dr Bozo Repe and Ms. Vesna Janeski who guided the teacher through the methodology and provided them with advice on how to train their peers to use the JHP workbooks and new Users Manual. Future activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina include 15 in-school trainings, after which it is expected that 75 additional teachers will have been trained. 06-07 February 2010 – Upskilling Trainer of Trainer Workshop, Pristina: CDRSEE spent the weekend in Pristina and meeting up with old friends – an upskilling workshop was completed for teachers who were trained as trainers of their peers in June 2008. 10 teacher-trainers were invited back to improve their training skills, so that they could train their peers on multi-perspective and participative methodology to history teaching. The training was lead by Dr Bozo Repe and Dr Inez Sutton. Dr Sutton, in collaboration with her daughter Ruth Sutton (former member of the CDRSEE team) wrote a Users Guide to utilising such approaches in the classroom. This Users Guide was launched at this workshop. The 10 teacher trainers trained, will now lead 3 local workshops, and 10 in-school trainings, after which it is expected that 225 teachers will have been trained. 30 January 2010 - Kick off meeting in Serbia: The CDRSEE met with donors, stakeholders and project partners in Serbia to plan the implementation of the JHP country plan for Serbia in 2010.  The team is composed of the Association for Social History, key coordinator Dubravka Stojanovic, PR coordinator Biljana Stupar and CDRSEE staff. 20 January 2010: User's Guide to the Complementary History Teaching Workbooks now available for download. Fresh of the print, the User's Guide to the Complementary History Teaching Workbooks are now available for free download. The books provide teachers with practical guidelines developed by expert methodologist on how to best use the Joint History Project's Alternative Educational Materials. 11-14 January 2010 – Kick off Meeting in Bosnia and Herzegovina: In preparation of a new round of activities to be funded within the context of the Joint History Project, the CDRSEE visited Bosnia and Herzgovina to set the stage for its upcoming workshop. The team visited Banja Luka and met with stakeholders, including the Deputy Minister for Education in the Republika Srpska and in Sarajevo, meetings were conducted with the Deputy Minister for Education and the Director of the Pedagogical Institute within the Canton of Sarajevo. The outcome of these meetings was positive and all parties pledged their support for the project. This project is generously funded by  National Endowment for Democracy, the Austrian Development Agency, Erste Foundation and the Balkans Trust for Democracy (with funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands) and project outputs include the publication of a users guide to multi-perspective and participative teaching methodology in the Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian languages; 1 workshop for history teachers and 15 in-school training sessions led by local history teachers.
